Eric Clapton is the debut solo studio album by British rock musician Eric Clapton, released in August 1970 under Atco and Polydor Records. After being successful with bands including The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, Clapton recorded an album under his own name in late 1969 and early 1970. The album cover shows Clapton sitting in a room which is going to be decorated and in which a ladder, a chair and some carpets are placed. Clapton holds a cigarette in his right. Read Full Biography. Overview . Biography . Interestingly, ERIC CLAPTON was the first album by the guitarist not to feature a blues cover. This would not occur again until the 1986 release of AUGUST and the 2005 release of BACK HOME. Delaney and Bonnies band were all talented musicians and guest artists such as Stephen Stills and Leon Russell also contributed to the album. Radle and Gordan were one of the best rock rhythm sections in the world at that particular time. The horns by Bobby Keys and Jim Price were also a nice touch and distinguished this project from most previous Clapton projects although horns were featured on several tracks for the Beano album with John Mayall. Eric Clapton needs little by way of an introduction, a solo artist in his own right as well as a member of the Yardbirds, Cream and Derek & The Dominos. He has been the recipient of 17 Grammy Awards, 1 Brit Award and 1 Bafta. This live album collection brings together all of Eric Clapton's live albums from his PolydorRSO label recorded period between 1970 - 1980.
