Notes
First CD release of promotional album, available until 2009 either as part of the Rykodisc box set Elvis Costello - 2½ Years, or by purchasers of the first three Elvis Costello reissues on Rykodisc (Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True, Elvis Costello - This Year's Model, Elvis Costello And The Attractions - Armed Forces) when initially released in 1993. They could acquire the disc directly (and separately) from Rykodisc in exchange for tokens included with each CD. There is no indication on the CD or its materials to distinguish copies packaged in 2½ Years from those obtained directly from Rykodisc.4-panel booklet contains clippings and photos from the time. As stated in booklet:
"Broadcast live from the El Mocambo, Toronto on CHUM-FM and later released, exclusively by Canadian Columbia as a promotion-only album. This record provides a pretty good snapshot of the "live" Elvis Costello and the Attractions sound of early 1978."
Track 4 is known as the "Dallas version" on this recording because the song lyrics, which refer to British fascist Oswald Mosley in the studio version, were changed to fit better the Kennedy assassination (Lee Harvey Oswald).
Recorded March 6th, 1978.
Manufactured in Canada.
Release notes:
Artist listed as "Elvis Costello & The Attractions" only on spine. Cover and disc both state "Elvis Costello." As with Elvis Costello - This Year's Model, artist name on cover and disc are used.
While labeled "Promotion Only - Not For Resale" it is not actually a promotional version. The CD replicates the artwork of the original release, which really was a promo.

Well played and the mix is excellent. Elvis does loads of short after another. This CD flows nicely, rocks hard but not heavy metal hard. Read more. One person found this helpful. Having been at the concert this certainly captures the sound but it certainly has a hard time completely capturing the ambience and seeing the live performance.
