Eddie Matos grew up in the lower east side of Manhattan. He is of Puerto Rican descent. His interests in music and deejaying came in the late 70's and early 80's. His deejaying influences were Jonathan Fearing, Ted Currier, Shep Pettibone, Tee Scott and Tony Humphries. In 1986 he ventured to David Mancuso's spot, The Loft.
