Construct is the tenth full-length studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. It was released on 27 May 2013 through Century Media Records. A music video for Uniformity, directed by Patric Ullaeus, was released on 10 May 2013. The album was written during what the band described as their darkest period and drew critical praise for its melodrama and darkness. They were coming off 1997s The Minds I the final album featuring what could be now called classic Dark Tranquillity and were met with an identity crisis that manifested itself in 1999s Projector. Construct makes a point to differentiate itself among Dark Tranquillity's other albums by working in different song structures and less traditional instrumental patterns. Construct's style seems be knotted up tight, but its impact is still relatively light compared to what the band has done in the past, and that is where Construct shows its weaknesses the most. How eclectic Well. Dark Tranquillity absolutely nailed it with Construct. It's the culmination of sounds they've been growing for years now. Each prior release might have had that one identifiable trait throughout that could describe the record, but Construct is simply an amalgam of interesting riffs and sounds that compliment each other nicely and change it up constantly.
