Interview and Studio Tracks with host Mary Turner
Original Airdate: 25 August 1986
1986 pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP
Host Mary Turner interviews Don Johnson (of MIAMI VICE fame) in the studio for this radio special. The discussion centers on Johnson's first solo effort, Don Johnson - Heartbeat, as well as his work on the hit television show that made him famous. Recorded at the height of Johnson's career, this set is a rare insight into an actor trying desperately to become a rock star. Commercial blocks and studio tracks are mixed with conversations between Turner and Johnson, who appear in the studio together. In addition to the usual double vinyl set, this release contains a third LP entitled Don Johnson Off The Record Features, which contains a track-by-track exploration of Don Johnson - Heartbeat. The Features LP does have some repeat bits from the first OTR set, but it is a more in depth discussion of each song on the album, and contains full versions of each song.
