On the Night is the second live album by the British rock band Dire Straits, released on 10 May 1993 by Vertigo Records internationally, and by Warner Bros. Records in the United States. The album features many of the band's later hits, including the singles Walk of Life and Money for Nothing. On the Night was recorded in May 1992 at Les Arenes in Nîmes, France, and at Feijenoord Stadion in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, concerts that were part of the On Every Street Tour, which included 216 shows in. On The Night is the final live album by the British rock band, Dire Straits. The album was released on May 10, 1993. However, the concert was recorded the Night is the second live album by Dire Straits. It was released in 1993, after Alchemy which was released in 1984 and Live at the BBC which while released in 1995 was recorded much earlier. It features many of their later hits, including the successful singles Walk of Life and Money for Nothing. On the Night is a collection of recordings from two different concerts during the On Every Street tour. The musical virtuosity of all players can clearly be heard, and the album also makes best use of Paul Franklin's pedal steel guitar skills, and Chris W. Listen to On The Night right now. The tour had started in Dublin in August of 1991, at the beginning of an initial European leg that ran into mid-October. So huge was the itinerary that it saw Dire Straits return to Europe for an immense second schedule, from the spring of 92 until the tours conclusion in October. In between times, they played extensive runs in Australia and New Zealand, and then in North America. On The Night was comprised of two engagements, one from each of the European legs. A live document of Dire Straits' 1991-1992 world tour supporting the On Every Street album, On the Night works sporadically, offering enough good material to interest fans but not enough to win back the commercial audience earned by Brothers in Arms.
