Short intro

Duty Now for the Future is the second studio album by American rock band Devo, released in July 1979 by Warner Bros. Produced by Ken Scott, the album was recorded between September 1978 and early 1979 at Chateau Recorders in Hollywood. The majority of the songs on the album had been performed in Devo's live set as early as 1976. The Devo Corporate Anthem song and video are a nod to the 1975 film Rollerball, in which games are preceded by players and audience standing solemnly while. Devo Corporate Anthem. Mark Mothersbaugh. More importantly, the album foregrounds Devo themselves, with Devo Corporate Anthem and Smart PatrolMr. DNA consolidating their message of de-evolution as well as the mythology surrounding the group as robotic prophets sent to observe the human race and pave the way for a Mr. Kamikaze . The albums moog heavy sound paves the way for their later synthesizer based LPs, while the rough-around-the-edges guitar and bass keep one foot firmly planted in their earlier punk roots. While the most obvious flaw of Devo's Duty Now for the Future is that the material simply isn't as good as on their debut, their second album also captures the group in the midst of a significant stylistic shift. Intro This album was first released in 1979, and it was Devo's second major album. This music certainly has the classic Devo sound that some have described as being like a robot out of control. The lyrics are fast and frantic, the synthesizer progressions are fast and crazy, and there are unusual note timbres being made by synthesizer when synthesizers were still fairly new instruments. A: We Are Devo, Freedom of Choice, and New Traditionalists, but it follows very close behind. I'm sure some listeners feel that it is comparable or even superior.
