Transcendence is the seventeenth studio album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend. It is the seventh and final album in the Devin Townsend Project series. It was released on September 9, 2016 via HevyDevy Records. Transcendence is the first Devin Townsend album not to be produced solely by Townsend, by featuring ex-Periphery member Adam Nolly Getgood as additional producer, engineer and mixer. By Townsend's request, the other musicians' input to songs, arrangements and production is also greater. I think making a statement that is positive was really where I wanted the power of this record to be rooted. This is definitely a Devin Townsend Project album through and through, with less of the meandering and drawn out attitude of his solo work Devin himself describes it as being the culmination of everything he hoped to achieve with DTP, and it shows. The general tone is a hearty mix of Addicted's accessibility and simplicity with Deconstruction's hammer-to-the-face mentality, though it obviously has ties to Epicloud and Sky BlueDark Matters as well.
