Just behind the pissed ups - something for me as the best off the short lived C.O.S.H.H. label, first time i heard this was sharkey & energy @ space 1999, for some reason thou energy decided to spin back over lemmys "thats the way i like it baby i dont want to live forever" i still cant fathom why you would do this as its the best bit of the track, as it kicks it back into life! The flipside is good...what is it with the acid producers and their drugs!! tee hee, apparently lemmy didnt approve of being on the sticker of this vinyl as he hated dance music, and was even more pissed off his smash hit had been remixed into a dance track, but C.O.S.H.H. got away with it!

I agree with Neurodynamo, in that "Spades" may be the star attraction on this record and the tune everyone remembers, but "Drugs Work" is a delicious little acid gurgler with a sort of funky vibe. Very tasty.

On the flip, the legendary "Spades" is indeed a corker, though I'll admit, it's not my favorite rock-tune-turned-into-acid-banger under the larger London-acid/SUF umbrella, and maybe not even on COSHH itself, as I think I prefer "The Bird, "Something," and "Buzzbomb." Granted, the latter might be because I'm a much bigger fan of the Dead Kennedys than Motorhead, but the point is, I rate "Spades" as "very good" but not quite as great as others seem to regard it.

Regardless, even I'll freely admit that when the "that's the way I like it, baby---I don't want to live forever!" sample drops at the end of the breakdown in "Spades," I get the goose-bumps every time. Definite tune.

Spades is quite simply one of the most awesome pieces of acid techno ever written. Bouncy, Bubbly, Screaming 303's that do the job every single time, it really does stand out as an all time mental party tune that can pretty much be dropped at any time, but when dropped at just the right moment will be the tune that makes everyone's night/morning and no one will ever forget!

Spades really is pure acid perfection!

What a TUNE!. This is completely full on, party fest. Its what the phrase "f***ing avin' it" was invented for. Makes an awesome tune out of an already awesome tune. If you're into acid techno/hard techno and you want to make your dancefloor get up an f***ing scream, you need this record! I remember Mark distributing early copies round all the party DJs, it ended up in every single one of their sets! You just had to drop this tune. "That's the way I like it, baby, no-one wants to live forever!"
