Short intro
Texas Moon is an album recorded by country musician David Allan Coe in 1973, but not released until 1977 on Plantation Records. Recorded in 1973 on SSS International and sold to Columbia along with Coe's contract, this collection of mostly cover songs was finally released in 1977 on Shelby Singletons Plantation Records, a convenient cash-in on the outlaw country movement, which was at its height at the time. The collection displays Coes ability as an interpretive singer as he tackles songs written. Texas Moon - David Allan Coe. Tattoo David Allan Coe album. Tattoo is an album released by country musician David Allan Coe, released in 1977 on Columbia Records. After his previous outlaw movement-hitching concept album Rides Again its opening track was titled Willie, Waylon and Me and was reprised halfway through the running order of crossfading songs, Coe returned to a straighter country approach on 1977s Tattoo, the title a reference to Coes menacingly inked frame. One of the pioneering artists of the outlaw country movement of the '70s, he hasn't had many big hits - only three of his singles hit the Top Ten - but he has been among the biggest cult figures in country music throughout his career. Born in Akron, OH, Coe first got into trouble with the law at age nine. As a result, he was sent to reform school. Released 1977. Texas Moon Tracklist. Texas Moon Q&A. At first glance, Texas Moon, which was released in 1977 but recorded before Sun Records sold Coe's contract to Columbia, is the product of bad David not only does the Moon in the title refer to the prominently displayed naked posteriors of Coe and band and dog on the front cover, but the back cover displays his prison record and mug shot. But this record actually plays it straight it's a beautiful assortment of originals and well-chosen covers, played with a sound and authenticity that latter-day alt-country bands would die forRelated to David Allan Coe - Texas Moon
