Daníel Ágúst first made his name as a singersongwriter in the electronicatrip-hop-oriented group Gus Gus, who had quite a bit of success in their native Iceland, Ágúst writing or co-writing all of the singles that became hits in that country. It might come as somewhat of a surprise, then, that his debut album is not especially electronica-oriented, though it's conscientiously textured and layered. He eschews dance tracks for a more classical sound the album swells with cellos. This is a personal move for Ágúst The Moss dances around on it pizzicatos a danceable version of this would appear on Gus Gus album Forever , of course. Nobody Else shapes sharp intakes of breaths and bells to serve as the backdrop for lyrics that seems to have escaped from a disco track.
