Earth Crisis is a roots reggae album released by Steel Pulse in January 1984. It is Steel Pulse's fifth studio album. On the album cover are pictures of American President Ronald Reagan, Soviet leader Yuri Andropov, Pope John Paul II, a Ku Klux Klansman, a Vietnamese refugee, and other historical pictures. Earth Crisis peaked at 154 on The Billboard 200 chart in 1984. Crisis, Hodgson told Sound, came to mean more to us as a title than it did to other people because it was really a crisis album. We learnt how not to make an album, coming right off the road and going into the studio. It could have been much better than Crime of the Century, but it wasnt. We had a lot of bad luck in the studio. Crisis received extensive air play on FM stations, especially in Britain, and the album made it into the Top 20 there and fell just outside the Top 40 in the U. Ain't Nobody But Me, Easy Does It, and the beautiful Sister Moonshine highlight Supertramp's buoyant and brisk instrumental and vocal alliance, while John Helliwell's saxophone gives the album. The biggest crisis is trying to get through both sides of this record. Supertramp is led by guitarist Roger Hodgson and keyboard player Richard Davies who are responsible as in guilty for all the groups words and music. Most of their lyrics are vignettes depicting the loss of communication among people and the absence of moral values in todays world, leading to such stimulating conclusions as this complex couplet from Just a Normal Day.
