The Unreleased Themes for Hellraiser subtitled The Consequences of Raising Hell was the fourth album that Coil released in 1987. The album was released on CD, cassette and 10 vinyl. It was the proposed soundtrack to the film Hellraiser, however was turned down because it was not considered commercial enough. A-side tracks from the 10cassette version and all tracks from the CD version later appeared on the Unnatural History II compilation. B-side tracks from the 10cassette version later appeared. Coil's infamously rejected dark ambient soundtrack work for Hellraiser has been released in various forms over the years - first as a highly abbreviated EP, then with further bonus material from other soundtrack jobs added, then as tracks on the Unnatural History series of compilations. Coil were approached to compose the soundtrack for Hellraiser, the result was apparently the only record Clive Barker had ever heard that he had to turn off because it 'made his bowels churn'.
