Short intro

The Clash is the self-titled debut studio album by English punk rock band the Clash. It was released on 8 April 1977 through CBS Records. Written and recorded over three weeks in February 1977 for 4,000, it would go on to reach No. 12 on the UK charts, and has been included on many retrospective rankings as one of the greatest punk albums of all time. Songs on the album were composed by guitarists Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, with the notable exception of the reggae cover Police and Thieves. In some ways, the double-disc, 28-track compilation The Story of the Clash, Vol. 1 does its job quite well - if the job is indeed presenting a relatively thorough overview for casual fans. The great majority of the band's hits and signature tunes are here, including album tracks and such non-LP singles as Bankrobber, Armagideon Time, and Capital Radio, albeit in nonchronological order. The Story of the Clash. This album is an essential for the car stereo. It contains most of their best known tracks so it is ideal for that purpose. It's not a complete collection though so some of your favourite album tracks might not be there. It's also very good in that the tracks are not listed in date order so you can be listening to a song from the first album followed immediately by something from Combat Rock. It's great to hear how the band developed musically in one collection. It's a collection of most, but not all the best songs from the best band ever. Pretty m.
