Short intro

Totems Flare is the fifth studio album by electronic musician Chris Clark and the third one under the moniker Clark. It was released on 13 July 2009 by Warp. All tracks are written by Christopher Stephen Totems Flare Genre: Electronic Style: IDM, Techno, Electro Year: 2009 Tracklist 1. Outside Plume 0:00 2. Growls Garden 4:26 3. Clark has become a true master of dynamics, and he takes so many chances mixing and matching electro styles from various regions Detroit, Berlin, Geneva, etc. that each track is engaging throughout. In contrast to the submarine sonar sounds, bumblebee basslines, and hard-thumping beats of Growls Garden, Absence lacks a beat entirely, and is made up of simple lo-fi acoustic guitars and ambient reverb. Weve been shown angry Clark, blinded by passion and vigor, and weve seen drowsy, reverb-soaked Clark, but never before have the two parts struggled with one another in such a fascinating, rewarding way. Q Magazine. An album that spins and lurches with impressive dexterity. Clark Totems Flare. Etichetta: Warp Records WARPLP185. Formato: 2 Vinyl, 12, Album, 33 RPM. Paese: UK. Possibly one of my least favourite Clark LPs. That is not to say it is bad or lacks ideas, I just find the music and rhythms jarring for jarrings sake. As per usual the production is Loud without any real subtlety in the mix. The last three tracks and the opener are very nice but the centre tracks drag it all back to earth. I look forward to the day Clark lets someone 'produce' him so he can concentrate on his ideas, which is his strength.
