Cheryl Wheeler: American singer-songwriter of contemporary folk music, based in New England. To date, she has recorded thirteen folk albums, and has toured extensively throughout the United States. Wheeler was born in Timonium, Maryland, where she attended Dulaney High School. She performed at clubs in the Washington, D. and Baltimore area. She moved to Rhode Island in 1976, where she played at various clubs in the New England area. Jonathan Edwards asked her to tour with him when his bass player became unavailable. He has since produced a number of her albums. Wheeler and her partner, Cathl. Edwards produced her first full-length album, Cheryl Wheeler, released on North Star Records in 1986. One of the songs on the album, Addicted, was covered by Dan Seals and became a number one country hit in September 1988. North Star licensed her second album, Half a Book 1988, to the short-lived Cypress imprint of A&M Records. Known for her comic as well emotionally intense songs, folk singersongwriter Cheryl Wheeler was raised in Timonium, Maryland, and began playing the guitar and ukulele as a child.
