Short intro

Soundtrack album by. Carter Burwell and various artists. October 30, 2001. The original soundtrack to The Man Who Wasn't There consists of classical music, mainly piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven, interspersed with cues composed by Carter Burwell. The film is the ninth on which Burwell has collaborated with the Coen Brothers. In the film, the actor Adam Alexi-Malle, portraying the character of Jacques Carcanogues, plays the opening piano solo of the Piano Concerto No. 1 Liszt in EMajor. Compositions by Carter Burwell except where otherwise noted. There are seven music cues by Burwell, and they are typically serviceable. I Met Doris Blind is a lush, string-filled piece The Fight is ominous and Nirlinger's Swing is a big-band swing composition. But it is the classical music that dominates this collection. The Trial of Ed Crane From The Man Who Wasn't There - Brussels Philharmonic, Carter Burwell. R 1h 56min Crime, Drama 6 December 2001 Russia. 1:36 Trailer. And the brothers use Carter Burwell's variant on Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata in a way that's as crazily persistent, and ceaselessly effective, as the insanely repetitive romantic theme from Godard's CONTEMPT. Not even Godard has used late Beethoven so aptly. Like BARRY LYNDON, another movie whose central question is What kind of a man are you, THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE has an elusive, smokelike plangency. It's a picture you'll puzzle over, and sigh achingly at its images, for many years to come. 5 of 5 people found this review helpf. Hello We have detected Русский as your language preference. Carter Burwell's official page about the score to Title. I wasn't going to sound like Beethoven - an impossibility - but the sound of piano would be so connected to Ed that it would have to be the focus of the score. Many of the score's musical structures are cyclical, representing Ed's inability to escape his situation. But the Coens also wanted the music to suggest a vague yearning that they felt was central to Ed's character
