Nightfall is the second studio album by the Swedish doom metal band Candlemass, released on 9 November 1987 through Axis Records. After being dropped from the label Black Dragon Records, Candlemass were the first band signed to Axis. The group had a new line-up from their previous album including vocalist Messiah Marcolin, whose decisions became instrumental during the production and release stages of the album. CANDLEMASS NIGHTFALL FULL ALBUM 1987 Nightfall is the second studio album from this Swedish doom metal legend. It was published on 9 November . Candlemass - Nightfall. The original title for the album was Gothic Stone, but Marcolin rejected Edling's idea and conviced the band to use the title Nightfall instead. Marcolin is also responsible for the choice of the cover of the album, which is the Old Age portion of the series of paintings called The Voyage of Life 1842 by Thomas Cole. The Well of Souls is inspired by the Well of the Souls, a secret chamber located inside the ancient city of Tanis, appearing in the 1981 Indiana Jones movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. NIGHTFALL is a classic album, but it was close it never say the light of day. If it wasnt for a certain cabdriver in London the story of Candlemass would have been very short. Luckily enough he liked what he heard from the Bewitched demo recorded in march 1987 and David Constable dared to sign Candlemass as the first band on the new London-label Axis. Leif smiles when he thinks about those special days and weeks in 1987. And why not. Nightfall is still today counted as a classic album at the very top of many millenium lists. Album 1987 17 Songs.
