Kraut Rock. Future Days is the fourth studio album by the German experimental rock group Can, originally released in 1973. It is the last Can album to feature Japanese vocalist Damo Suzuki. On Future Days, the band foregrounds the ambient elements they had begun exploring on previous efforts, dispensing largely with traditional rock song structures and instead creating hazy, expansive soundscapes dominated by percolating rhythms and evocative layers of keys. PopMatters wrote that It feels as if Future Days is. Listen free to Can Future Days Future Days, Spray and more. 4 tracks 41:04. Damo Suzuki's final effort is Can's most atmospheric and beautiful record, a spartan collection of lengthy, jazz-like compositions recorded with minimal vocal contributions. Employing keyboard washes to create a breezy, almost oceanic feel indeed, two of the tracks are titled Spray and Bel Air, the mix buries Suzuki's voice to elevate drummer Jaki Liebezeit's complex rhythms to the foreground despite the deceptive tranquility of its surface, Future Days is an intense. Future Days trims the fat from Tago Mago and turns down the out there level that made the album so different into a psychedelic ambient flow. Future Days' sound is nearer to Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk than their krautrock peers Faust, but still manages to display all the habits that krautrock bands seem to encompass. As you may have noticed, Future Days has only four tracks, making it very concise even though the songs are generally long. The relaxing nature and the hallucinogenic euphoria of the LP makes the album duration go in rather quickly. Genre: Krautrock. On Future Days, legendary German rock outfit came and conquered once more with a hypnotic and entrancing album that masterfully fuses ambient and rock elements. I enjoyed the two behemoth tracks that open and close the record, they are excellent examples on retaining momentum and keeping the listeners attention at the same time. The two shorter and more pop-oriented tunes in the middle were also really enjoyable as well. Overall, really enjoyed the relaxed flow and runtime of Future Days. read more. Where Ege Bamyasi had played fast and loose with elements of rock song structure, Future Days dispensed with these elements altogether, creating hazy, expansive soundscapes dominated by percolating rhythms and evocative layers of keys. Vocalist Damo Suzuki turns in his final and most inspired performance with the band. His singing, which takes the form here of a rhythmic, nonsensical murmur, is all minimal texture and shading. After 1971s Tago Mago, krautrock colllective Can had solidified themselves as one of the most impactful experimental bands of their time. However, after LP Ege Bamyasi was more grounded in funk influences, Czukay and company decided to dive full into the ambiance of pure soulful bliss, with funk tinges and the same experimental aesthetic that gave the band their fame in the first place. The end result was Future Days, hailed by many as a masterpiece and a towering pillar of the krautrock genreRelated to Can - Future Days
