Calibre seems to produce a lot of tunes and some make no impression on me at all even though everything he makes seems to be hailed as genius. It just feels more original than Mystic which is a more traditional liquid production with it's electric piano riffs rising and falling behind a wailing diva. It sounds a bit like a DnB Headhunters by Herbie Hancock. The echoing electric guitar fills are very 80's fusion but I love the Philly Soul style strings that come and go and the track has a relentless energy, but I just prefer the quirkiness of Feelin

Oh my......when Fabio first dropped this, well it was just liquid heaven, pure vibes but heavy. I thought it was Peshay (as did many of us) at first but then heard him play it on his radio show a few weeks later and introduce us to this then pretty unknown guy. I would say what ever your preferred Jungle/DnB sound , you still have to have this somewhere lurking in ya box.

Wake-up call for the drum & bass / techstep scene back then.

I remember visiting all the record shops in Bristol on the day of release, and this was playing in every single one. Something about Mystic just seemed to resonate with everyone and it was a real game changer. Everyone was fed up with techstep and this was the way ahead.

Took me a while to get Calibre as I like darker stuff generally but I randomly picked this up and it is very good. I personally prefer Fellin to Mystic, it's zany almost 20's jazz riff put me off at first, but then I got it and it all fit into place. It starts with a horn riff that reminds me of "Dub Wars" by Dance Conspiracy and then breaks down into the crazy horn riff before a beautiful recurring strings and horns chord rises up from the mix. It has a bouncy optimism and makes it great for the morning after hangover...It just feels more original than Mystic which is a more traditional liquid production with it's electric piano riffs rising and falling behind a wailing diva. But this very early 12 is definitely worth picking up as it will prove a bit of a grower.Frank @ London School of Sound

What a great couple of tracks from the Belfast based Drum & Bass legend that is Calibre. It was these two tracks that prompted me to keep a very close eye on any future releases he might put out. And what an impressive back catalogue he's mounted up since this. First up is the A Side called Mystic. This kicked ass at Swerve in 2000, when it was caned down at the Velvet Rooms. Fabio dropped it the first time I heard it, and all those gathered in the underground haven on Tottenham Court Road subsequently went into uproar! Some rewind business happened on this track back in the day. A slick killer break beat, accompanied by a heavy Jazz note synthesized stab, which becomes interlaced with an airy trumpet like synth line with layered female vocal, all help syncopate this number into an immense flowing dance groove... Great production, along with great layering, keep it building up and breaking down in a frenetic, energy driven Jazz work out. What an awesome number... And bearing in mind this is the sound of Calibre when he was starting out, it's no wonder that Fabio took him under his wing and played this out heavily back then. This release is backed with a track entitled Feelin. While it's still a good B Side, it just isn't nearly as captivating as Mystic is. Still slick in its own way, it is a bit more of a Jazz stepper, in the way Peshay's Miles From Home on MoWax is. Great production with a lovely sax rift reminiscent of DJ Pulse's Destiny on All Good Vinyl, layered with strings and a somewhat unusual yet effective vocal, really put it up there near the top (in my humble opinion). Easily a classic from Fabio's Creative Source imprint! 5 out of 5... Thanks to those who pointed out he was from Belfast.
