Dialogue is an album by jazz vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, released on the Blue Note label in 1965. This was Hutcherson's first LP released as bandleader an earlier session, The Kicker, has since been issued on CD by Blue Note following work with Eric Dolphy. The album features four Andrew Hill compositions and two Joe Chambers pieces. It has received widespread critical acclaim and is considered by most critics one of Hutcherson's greatest achievements. Sample this album Artist Sample. Bobby somehow convinced Blue Note, as the label itself approached the end of the line, to issue these unfashionably straight-ahead sessions. But of course what sessions they were Adventurous compositions, fresh arrangements and inspired playing Bobby spends some time on marimba here and there - they're all here. Bobby Hutcherson was born in Los Angeles, California, to Eli, a master mason, and Esther, a hairdresser. Hutcherson was exposed to jazz by his brother Teddy, who listened to Art Blakey records in the. The '70s was a rough decade for pure jazz funk and fusion had taken over the jazz market. While Hutcherson's star-like many artists who purposely avoided the allure of success through the fusion route-seemed to dim in the 1970s, these five sessions on Mosaic Select 26 prove that he was still hard at work and making compelling music.
