It was released on September 21, 2012 through Debemur Morti Productions. This is the third and final album of the 777 trilogy that begin with the 2011 album '777 Sects'. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Earthsound Recording in 2012 and the artwork was created by Dehn Sora in collaboration with Metastazis Studios. With 777: Cosmosophy, France's Blut Aus Nord conclude the widely lauded trilogy of albums that began in March of 2011. The first two parts of the concept, 777: Sects and 777: The Desanctification, were mirror images of one another. The former, a sonic assault that at moments referred musically to the band's landmark 2004 album The Work Which Transforms God, while The Desanctification its opposite, is a glacial, brooding set of blackened atmospherics and textures. Like the notions of thesis and antithesis, 777: Cosmosophy synthesizes both works, and at once reaches beyond their limi. Review Summary: Blut aus Nord trimmed every negative aspect of the previous two albums and improved everything else, coming away with an album that not only exceeds all expectations but tops the other two albums in the trilogy combined. To claim that Blut aus Nord have a wide discography would almost be a disservice to the sheer amount of shades of black metal they've covered. Cosmosophy is the finishing piece of the 777 trilogy, a series of disjointed though not negatively, twisted and obscure compositions that flow from one to the other, each released under a year from each other. But Blut Aus Nord, the long-running and ever-challenging French black metal project of Vindsval, has never played live. In 2011, Norwegian magazine Metal Hammer asked the leader if, despite his previous live reluctance, Blut Aus Nord might ever consider the transition to the stage. Our music, he replied tersely, is a solitary experience.
