Short intro

Volta is the sixth studio album by Icelandic singer Björk, released on 1 May 2007 by One Little Indian Records. A wide array of artists collaborated with Björk on material for the album, including longtime collaborator Mark Bell, along with new producers Timbaland and Danja. Volta spent nine weeks at number one on the US Top. Listen free to Björk Volta Earth Intruders, Wanderlust and more. 10 tracks 51:13. Volta is the Grammy-nominated sixth full-length studio album from Icelandic singer Björk, a follow-up to 2004's Medúlla and comprises ten new tracks. In an interview done for daily Internet publication Pitchfork, Björk talked for the first time about the theme of the album. But with this one, it was different because I knew more emotionally what I wanted. And because I'd done two or three projects in a row that were quite serious, maybe I just needed to get that out of my system or something. Once again finding harmony and creating alchemy between seeming opposites, on Volta Björk is bold but thoughtful, delicate yet strong, accessible and avant. The intricacy and complexity of projects like Medúlla and Drawing Restraint 9 suggested that she might have left the more direct side of her work behind, but Volta's opening track and lead single, Earth Intruders, puts that notion to rest: the song literally marches in, riding a bubbling, ritualistic beat courtesy of Timbaland and Konono No. 1's electric thumb-pianos. Björk: Volta album preview. Milton Lescano. Язык: Русский. Страна: США. Volta is the seventh studio album by Icelandic singer Björk, released in May 2007. It was produced by Björk, Mark Bell, Timbaland and Danja. This led to the album being leaked online the following day. It has been certified Silver in the United Kingdom. The album attracted attention due to the inclusion of three tracks co-produced by R&B record producer Timbaland. The album was highly acclaimed on its initial relea. Volta is the seventh studio album by Björk released on May 1, 2007. I knew from the start I wanted the album to be bloody, physical and urgent. But then trying to work out how you do it is sometimes like solving a murder mystery thing. But that's so fun. I love solving riddles. So this one got solved with the use of either tribal live drumming or 808s, 909s, the old-school drum machine noises. Or the mix of all those. The rhythms were actually some of the last things we worked on. The melodies. Bjork - Volta review: Timbaland, brass choirs, Antony Hegarty, foghorns, and Bjork. Good together. Fittingly, she titled her latest album Volta, meaning a sudden change or turn, because it seems that Björk might be landing soon. In fact, she collaborated with pop music pimp Timbaland, who met with her and worked on quite a few tracks, three of which made the album. Volta pulls in many guest artists other than Timbaland, including Antony Hegarty from the famed Antony and the Johnsons, Brian Chippendale from Lightning Bolt, and a ten-piece, all female Icelandic brass choir. Despite all the distractions, this album is pure Björk, devoid of normalcy. Disappointingly, it turns out that Timbaland and the Technicolor artwork were red herrings- Volta is not Björk's pop record. Figuring out what it is, actually, is a much more difficult task where even her most divisive albums ha. Volta could very easily sound scattered, but this isn't the case. Instead, it finds the perfect balance between the vibrancy of her poppier work in the '90s and her experiments in the 2000s. Full Review. Volta is a strong album with memorable, remarkable tracks that have great variety, so much that the album loses cohesion. But Bjork being Bjork, Volta is no hip-hop album. Bjork, 41, describes Volta as techno voodoo, pagan, tribal and extroverted. Those words barely sum up an album that mingles programmed beats, free-jazz drumming, somber brass ensembles, African music, a Chinese lute and Bjorks ever-volatile voice. Its a 21st-century assemblage of the computerized and the handmade, the personal and the global. This relentless restlessness liberates me, Bjork sings in Wanderlust, which she calls the albums manifesto. I feel at home whenever the unknown surrounds me. Bjork on the Tribal Aspect
