Short intro

Debut is the debut studio album by Icelandic recording artist Björk as an international singer, released in July 1993 by One Little Indian and Elektra Entertainment. Debut was released in July 1993 on One Little Indian Records. Contrary to what the title suggests, it is actually her second solo studio album, as she had released a self-titled album in Iceland when she was 11 years old. One of the first albums to introduce electronic music into mainstream pop, the album represents a departure from the alternative rock sound of The Sugarcubes, her former band. Björk had relocated to London, embracing its dance music scene. Thus, Debut mainly incorporates house music, although the influence of the burgeoning trip-hop scene is also evident. It was her first solo project after leaving The Sugarcubes, but was not her actual debut, as she released the self-titled album Björk in 1977. The record was produced by Nellee Hooper and established Björk's audience outside of Iceland and cult followings in the UK, U. and elsewhere. The Best Mixes from the Album - Debut - Björk. Freed from the Sugarcubes' confines, Björk takes her voice and creativity to new heights on Debut, her first work after the group's breakup. With producer Nellee Hooper's help, she moves in an elegantly playful, dance-inspired direction, crafting highly individual, emotional electronic pop songs like the shivery, idealistic One Day and the bittersweet Violently Happy. Despite the album's swift stylistic shifts, each of Debut's tracks are distinctively Björk
