While the bands amplified emotions have always been their strong suit, the way its utilized here is vastly different from the bands hotwire socially conscious debut five years prior. Instead the band seems to be looking inwards, reflecting on their families, nostalgias pull, and well, growing up and moving full steam ahead in this new day and age. The result was Holey Brain, which is slated for an August 2017 release under Maybe Mars once again. When asked if theyve consciously chosen to avoid potentially controversial topics this time around, the band say they're unconcerned with things like sales distribution or the lack thereof. While the Velvet Underground-meets-Sonic Youth controlled chaos of the first album remains, the lyrical content of Holey Brain is as clean and wholesome as it gets.
