Billion Dollar Babies is a popular 1973 single by the rock group Alice Cooper, taken from the album Billion Dollar Babies. It was released in July 1973, months after the album had been released. The track is a duet between Alice Cooper and Donovan, who provides the falsetto vocals. BMI lists the composers of Billion Dollar Babies as Alice Cooper, Michael Bruce and Reggie Vinson a session guitarist who had worked with the Alice Cooper band previously. The Billion Dollar Babies were the band put together by Neal Smith, Dennis Dunaway and Michael Bruce in 1977 after it became clear that Alice Cooper wasnt going to return to the original Alice Cooper Band after Welcome To My Nightmare was so successful. The only two members of the original Alice Cooper Group missing from this lineup is Glen Buxton & Alice himself. The Billion Dollar Babies album was recorded in three stages. Initially a mobile studio from New Yorks Record Plant was parked up outside The Cooper Mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the basic backing tracks were laid down. After a couple of months of furtive recording in between their myriad other commitments, the band flew to Londons Morgan Studios to record overdubs and vocals, then returned to the Record Plant for mixing. I mean, he was supposed to sing on the Battle Axe album, but we couldnt get a return phone call. Its certainly not Michael, Neal or I, or even Glen, that have kept this band from ever getting back together. That part I know. The concept for Battle Axe was to be the follow up for the the original groups final collaboration, Muscle of Love.
