Short intro
Symphony No. 3 in E flat major Eroica, Op. Allegro con brio. Ludwig van Beethoven. Pilar Lorengar, Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt, George Szell. Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt 1900-1973 was not a famous conductor along the lines of Karajan, Klemperer, Solti, Bernstein, or Szell, but he was respected for conducting regional orchestras in Germany before World War II, and founding the Hamburg Radio Symphony Orchestra shortly after World War II ended in 1945. Schmidt-Isserstedt's recorded legacy was not large, but he did record the nine Beethoven Symphonies 1965-69 with the Vienna Philharmonic for Decca. This recording of the Eroica Heroic or 3rd Symphony features sensible, moderte tempos and an emphasis on the structure of. Schmidt-Isserstedts straightforward, sober interpretations strike a happy medium between the formal, unvarnished Teutonic styles of Klemperer and Barenboim and the astringent classicism typical of Toscanini, Szell, and at times, Böhm. Standouts include a highly distinct, stylishly taut Eroica , an expansive, fluent Pastorale , an assertive, powerfully projected Fourth, and a Leonore No. 3 that positively sizzles with drama. 84 - Siegessymphonie by George Szell: Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and see the artwork, lyrics and similar artists. It was composed in 1806 and premiered in March 1807 at a private concert in Vienna at the town house of Prince Lobkowitz. The first public performance was at the Burgtheater in Vienna in April 1808. The symphony is in four movements. It is predominantly genial in tone, and has tended to be overshadowed by the weightier Beethoven symphonies that preceded and followed it the Third Symphony Eroica andRelated to Beethoven, Pilar Lorengar, The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt, George Szell - Eroica Symphony / Egmont
