Short intro
Album 1995 12 Songs. Concerto in A Minor for Violin, Cello and Orchestra, Op. 102 Double Concerto. Leonard Rose, Isaac Stern & Eugene Ormandy. Ludwig van Beethoven composed his Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61, in 1806. Its first performance by Franz Clement was unsuccessful and for some decades the work languished in obscurity, until revived in 1844 by Joseph Joachim. Since then it has become one of the best-known violin concertos. Beethoven had previously written a number of pieces for violin and orchestra. At some point in 17902, before his musical maturity, he began a Violin Concerto in C, of which only a fragment of the first. Concerto in D Major for Violin and Orchestra, Op. Allegro ma non troppo. Isaac Stern. BeethovenBrahms: Violin Concertos Double Concerto Triple Concerto. 61II. 61III. Concerto in A minor for Violin, Cello and Orchestra, Op. 102 Double ConcertoI. The triple is a better concerto than it sounds here: enervated and powerless-try the polacca section of the third movement for example c. f SerkinSchneider,DemusJochumSaphir, and Beaux ArtsHaitink. Until a late awakening, the Brahms violin concerto is prim and lifeless- a very slow first movement coda reduces one of Brahms' most beautiful and exalted passages to an aural ordeal. The interplay with Leonard Rose helps in the Brahms double concerto and jolts it alive, but the Beethoven is soporific. Brahms Violin Concerto in D major Op. 77 1st mov. 22:48 2nd mov. 9:23 3rd mov.
