Beano were a big comedy show group through out the 70s in northern working mens band consisted of Freddy Phillips, Ken Smith, John Birch and Ray Johnson. As well as doing the rounds of the club circuit, Beano also released 5 singles and a 1975 album, Candy Baby. The band also entered A Song For Europe twice in an attempt to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest.
