Steve Borth, Sr AYA Singers. Home Town. Richardson, TX, United States. On 2-6-72, a group of singers in Portland, Oregon sang the Great Controversy Cantata for the first time. It was not to be its last presentation. Former of the Rose City Singers formed the core group that did the first concert at Portland Adventist Academy. The Texas AYA Singers led by Wayne Thurber followed later that same year. Countless other groups in the Carolinas, in Corpus Christi, Texas and in Sacramento, California took the songs throughout the United States. In 1974, Paul Johnson and his Singers reinterpreted it and released it on his label, One Way Publications at the time.
