No title was printed anywhere within the artwork, so it is commonly referred to as LP5, in line with the later EP EP7 it has also been called Autechre, as well as Album, as listed on promotional copies. The album shows Autechre abandoning the full, warm sounds of earlier albums like Amber in favor of a fine-tuned, technical style they had begun exploring on Chiastic Slide and the Cichlisuite EP. Track Listing. LP5, like all of Autechres material, is something that civilly requests your attention as opposed to demanding it. As such, you can look at it on a superficial level and still be gobsmacked by the scrupulous rhythms and spotless sound engineering, but at the same time will be doing the album a disservice. The albums allure is in the details, both in terms of the textural facets and the development of ideas through each track. I think even people who enjoy this album would agree that it's very open to interpretation as far as feelings go, and that while it's certain they are there, it's hard to figure out exactly what the music was meant to do. I could generalize LP5 as being contemplative and melancholic, but really most of the emotions here are hard to put into words.
