Artists United Against Apartheid was a 1985 protest group founded by activist and performer Steven Van Zandt and record producer Arthur Baker to protest against apartheid in South Africa. The group produced the song Sun City and the album Sun City that year, which is considered a notable anti-apartheid song. Sun City was a place where the South African government allowed entertainment that was banned in most of the country. In protest of apartheid, an international boycott by performers continued. Sun City was certainly the most political of all of the charity rock albums of the 1980s. Little Steven organized a number of artists for this protest against apartheid, including such heavyweights as Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Jimmy Cliff, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, , and Lou Reed. Not long after Band Aid and We Are The World focused musical attention on poverty and famine, a collection of artists took a similar approach in City was a 1985 album that contained several versions of the Steven Van Zandt-led Artists United Against Apartheid's Sun City protest song against apartheid in South Africa as well as other selections in the same vein from that project. In addition to the title track, other songs were recorded at the time completed an album's worth of material. Drummer-musician Keith LeBlanc and journalist Danny Schechter came up with Revolutionary Situation, an audio-collage set to music that took its title.
