Teenage Shutdown is a garage rock compilation series compiled by Tim Warren of Crypt Records and Mike Markesich. It consists of 15 albums, issued in LP and CD between 1998 and 2000. Even tho' several songs of the series were previously issued in other garage compilations, the one published here have a better sound quality, liner notes are very accurate and the packaging looks professional and clean. American mid-60s teenage garage punk has a primeval gut-wrench rev that blasts through your speakers, proving once and for all that rock 'n' roll is a poignant art form blacksmithed in the USA. There is some sort of oddly spiritual connection linking the visceral sound blasts directly to black rock 'n' roll, blues, and R&B, even as the teen bands imitating the Rolling Stones or the Pretty Things or the Dave Clark Five have no direct knowledge of the artists imitated by said foppy Brits. The release of Pebbles was timed perfectly with the boost in interest in all things 60s, a snacky side dish to the post-punk skinny tie power-pop entree of 19791980. GARAGE TRIP 2000. Crypt Records. Record label. Paradise of Garage Comps Blog. Back From The Grave. The Pre Punk Page. Music chart. Garage Punk Unknowns. The Tell-Tale Hearts. Psychobilly from the 50's and 60's. Just for fun.
