Short intro
CompositionsImprovisations 2000. Scott Rosenberg is an impressive disciple of Anthony Braxton, and here the two perform a series of duets that build on the elder's sense of exotic harmony, rhythmic angularity, and iconoclastic vision. Rosenberg is so good that it is often difficult to distinguish the two horns from one another. Although the technical accomplishments of the duo are impressive, what makes this such an interesting listening experience is the range of sound, particularly when you consider that there are only two reeds involved. 1 Statk 9:45 2 168 6:55 3 Improvisation 1:35 4 Llnlr 6:55 5 Improvisation 2:17 6 65 7:57 7 Improvisation 1:53 8 Eerhre 17:16. Soprano Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, Saxophone , Flute. No exception with CompositionsImprovisations 2000. On this disc, Braxton joins forces with reed player Scott Rosenberg, a like-minded individual with his own compositional aesthetic and open-ended style of playing. Roughly a third of the tracks consist of compositions by each player, and the remainder features free improvisation. The material on CompositionsImprovisations tends toward a chamber music sound-stark, reduced, deliberate playing. no reckless abandon here Interestingly, the lines between formal composition and free improvisation blur: both kinds of piece feature delicate intera.
