Bleu pétrole Petrol blue is the twelfth studio album by the French rocker Alain Bashung, released in March 2008 on Barclay Records. It is his last studio album released during his lifetime. Great expectations surrounded Bleu pétrole after L'Imprudence, issued in 2002, and the live album La Tournée des grands espaces, issued in 2004. Bashung took time to work on it, before deciding finally to not work with his lyricist Jean Fauque, choosing instead to work with Gaëtan Roussel of Louise Attaque and. Released a year before Alain Bashung died of lung cancer on March 14, 2009, at the age of 61, Bleu Pétrole serves as a superb swan song for the chanson legend. This final full-length effort was a laudable comeback for Bashung, who hadn't released a new studio album since L'Imprudence 2002, and it returned him to the top of the French charts for the first time in six years.
