Dig Deep is the fifth studio album by American progressive metal band After the Burial. The album was released on February 19, 2016 through Sumerian Records and is the band's first release since the death of guitarist Justin Lowe. It is also the final album by the band to feature founding bassist Lee Foral. The release of Dig Deep was announced on January 4, 2016, when the cover art and track listing was unveiled. The first single Lost in the Static was released on October 29, 2015. Collapse was. AFTER THE BURIAL - Dig Deep Album Teaser. Sumerian Records. AFTER THE BURIAL - Notes The grief-stained Dig Deep was recorded as After the Burial coped with the sudden death of guitarist Justin Lowe. Downplaying their progressive tendencies, the group instead express their anguish by ratcheting up the ferocity of their djent-style chugging. On the thrashing Collapse, the band threaten to rip apart their own polyrhythmic motor. Equally unhinged is Mire, which fluctuates between deathcore blitz and jagged groove work. And be sure to blast the ending of the funereal Heavy Lies the Ground its the sickest 30 seconds on the entire album. Dig Deep will mark 10 years since After the Burial came onto the scene with their debut, Forging a Future Self , which featured slugging rhythms with triumphant melodic breaks. The group has strayed a bit from their more melodic metalcore leanings and have embraced the polyrhythmic, palm-muted chugs over the last couple years that initially started with Sweden's Meshuggah and has now been consumed by a flurry of emerging acts under the djent genre. After the Burial made headlines in the summer of 2015 when reports surfaced that their former guitarist, Justin Lowe , had gone missing. He le. If Dig Deep was used as a visible metaphor, this would be the point of the record where the band hits their slow and starts the ascension towards finding solace through tragedy. The small acoustic break slows the pace before heading into measured technical chaos. For After The Burial, a terrible scenario brought forth a new vision. This is the most inspired I have ever heard the group, and Dig Deep possesses a heavy cathartic release in nine, short yet brutal songs. The fifth studio long-player from the Minnesota-based tech-metal unit, and the first After the Burial outing to be released after the death of co-founder and guitarist Justin Lowe, Dig Deep could have been an unrelentingly somber affair. While the themes are indeed heavy the Kübler-Ross model of grief is invoked frequently throughout the LP's just over 40-minute running time, ATB's signature brand of groove-laden, polyrhythmic djent has never sounded more immediate. Featuring 9 tracks and clocking in at just under 40 minutes, the record is due out on February 19 via Sumerian. The band's studio album No. 5 was previously announced with singles Lost in the Static and Collapse. Check it out below. engagement rate.
