Cunningham born in Wolverhampton, England is a British electronic musician, best known under the pseudonym Actress. His music has been released by a variety of different recording labels, which most prominently include Ninja Tune, Honest Jon's Records, and Werkdiscs, a label he co-founded in 2004. Like his previous NonPlus release, the Machine and Voice EP, the two tracks offered on GershwinHarrier ATTK show a different, colder side to Actress, in keeping with the labels general aesthetic. Gershwin is a crushed electro cut reminiscent of Drexciya, Gescom and Chiastic Slide-era Autechre. Harrier ATTK continues the warfare theme set by Machine and Voices Und U Boat, and is of similar mood. A slow-motion, airborne ballad, it is nudged forwards by a simple, cracked drum machine and low, rolling square waves, joined only by a high harmony as development. Nonplus Records.
