Powerage is the fifth studio album by Australian hard rock band ACDC. It was the band's fourth studio album released internationally and the fifth to be released in Australia. It was the first ACDC album to feature Cliff Williams on bass, and it was also the first ACDC album not to have a title track aside from the Australia-only High Voltage album. Powerage was re-released in 2003 as part of the ACDC Remasters series. ACDC - Powerage 1978. 247 Dynamite Music. ACDC - Are You Ready Official Video. Rock 'N' Roll Damnation. You can hear it straight from the first track, Rock 'n' Roll Damnation, which throws in some handclaps and back-up singers to flesh out their tale of eternal punishment, while What's Next to the Moon pushes the band out of their lyrical comfort zone with its mythic storytelling. This album marks the debut of bassist Cliff Williams, who keeps the rhythm nailed down with drummer Phil Rudd as Angus tears through complex new songs l. It is also ACDC's fourth international studio album. All songs were written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott. It was originally released on Atlantic Records, and reached 133 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart in the US, eventually going platinum there. Powerage is the fourth international release by ACDC and despite being less commercially successful than their prior and former albums, is considered a classic by fans and even respected musicians such as Keith Richards and Eddie Van Halen have cited it as their favorite ACDC album. The first track and main single, Rock and Roll Damnation , was recorded after the record company demanded a radio-friendly single. The rest of the album has a bluer, more somber tone and less simple and catchy instrumentation. This set the stage for the blend of uniqueness and classic ACDC simplicity of the Hig. Powerage was a first in the sense that it debuted bassist Cliff Williams, but it really is more of a final curtain to the band's early years. It would be the last produced by Vanda & Young, the legendary Australian production team who also helmed hits by the Easybeats, and it was the last before ACDC became superstars. As such, it's perhaps the most overlooked of their '70s records, also because, frankly, it is the most uneven of them. Not that it's a bad record - far from it, actually. Songs in album ACDC - The Powerage Tour 1978. Live Wire Deleted. After Powerage, ACDC would get louder, slicker and bigger, but they would never again display this much heart, soul and humanity. Down Payment Blues is one of my all-time favourite ACDc tracks, said Slash. One of the most gritty but also most melodically articulate ACDC songs of all time. Plus, the premise of the lyrics reads like my life story. Rudy Talavera: This was the first ACDC album I got. I bought it on cassette.
