Short intro

Eat the Elephant is the fourth studio album by American rock band A Perfect Circle. It is their first album release in fourteen years, after 2004's Emotive. While early work on new material traces back to as early as 2008, years of slow progress would ensue due to issues between the band's chief music writers, frontman Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howerdel, largely stemming from their commitments to other projects and inability to come to an agreement on the direction to take the band. A Perfect Circle - Disillusioned. Although Im extremely excited to finally be completing this album after a 14-year hiatus, explains Keenan, Im actually more excited that its intentional release date is serving a greater purpose. The 20th of April is Carina Rounds birthday. She is a dear friend who is extremely difficult to shop for. Pressure off. Of course, I must also note that the potheads are gonna be thrilled that this album comes out on 4-20. A Perfect Circle Eat The Elephant album review. By Eleanor Goodman 19 April 2018. Formed by Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howerdel at the turn of the millennium, A Perfect Circle released three albums of expansive alt-metal. While they never quite reached the monumental heights of Maynards other band, they drew a strong following thanks to pointed lyrics swathed in warm melodies borrowed from 90s rock. The singer crafted Eat the Elephant, A Perfect Circles first record in 14 years, according to the same principles as his self-run winery and restaurant in rural Arizona: time, investment, focus, presence. In a recent Revolver interview, Keenan compared himself to an Italian mother cooking up family dinner slowly and painstakingly, hungry children be damned. Renewed focus, alongside assistance from music producer Dave Sardy, helped propel the b. Album 2018 12 Songs. Eat the Elephant is thoughtful and brooding, but still heavy as ever tracks like TalkTalk would fit right in on Thirteenth Step. Harps and horns make slow-burning The Contrarian frighteningly ominous, and So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish sounds so uplifting its unsettling-but its lyrics reveal a sardonic ode to modern life, while lamenting the loss of David Bowie and other legends. After 14 years of silence, alt-metal supergroup A Perfect Circle returned with Eat the Elephant. Previously active on 2004's antiwar eMOTIVe - when the U. was embroiled in a different state of social upheaval - they re-emerged in 2018 at another pivotal time with just as much to say. Digipak, no liner notes, minimal art (Billy, Maynard, and the band), beautiful CD with the octopus imprint. Powerful front and rear album art featuring maynard or billy consuming a blue-and-red octopus. The music itself tries to pick itself up after a hiatus that has lasted too long. It pales in comparison to MdN and 13th, but holds its own against eMo. The themes and mood are very APC (blind faith, sheep mentality, decisions, traitors, and finality), but the songs' impact are considerably lower in power, but make up for it in overall mastery in composition and arrangement. Probably the most un-APC-sounding track here is "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish," that has that undoubtable easy-to-consume, upbeat, pop-rock vibe. However, it might open new doors for A Perfect Circle to reach new listeners and attract them to their early music.
