Previously, the group had filled LPs with covers of oldies after including their current hit. Rag Doll consisted entirely of songs written by group member Bob Gaudio, which gave it a contemporary feel, and it contained three Top Ten hits, including the number one title track, Save It for Me, and Ronnie.
